Well, it’s here folks. Five years and thousands of dollars from wide-ranging sources later the latest audio epistle from the almost famous and always mercurial Yukoner, Ben Mahony is available for purchase and pouring over. It also makes an excellent gift and/or coaster.

Many thanks to producer Chris Isaak for all his hard work and understanding. Thanks also to brother Brandon for his support including CD cover design and open ears. Thanks also to local drummer ninja Lonnie Powell for his percussion work.

It has been a labour of love and  this follow-up to the 2003 Action/Reaction EP by Ben Mahony and the Big-Eyed Beans From Venus shows some maturity and some depth , some unplugged attempts at pure song writing but also some signature retro modern rock and roll.

The record is called “Yukon Love Ghosts” and features a collection of songs written between 1997 and 2010 loosely based around themes of haunting, celebration and moving on from both west coast amore and the spirits of the north. Give it a listen.

Track 7 is a dance song. The one before it is a folk song. The record begins with a folk-rock hymn, “Set Your Heart” written in Whitehorse about the clay-cliffs in 2002, before the Big-eyed Beans From Venus, before the Rhino party, before the madness, in Mahony Yukon year one when life was still fairly simple. Here’s to the salad days.
