Ben Mahony's blog

Winnipeg F yeah

Hello everyone:

I have descended upon the river city and have begun playing shows here. I sat in with Matt Allen and the Little Buddies last week at Times Changed and am getting new copies of the Yukon Love Ghosts CD pressed. I've also been writing songs on the piano and doing alot of stretches. The Yukon News is publishing an interview/review of the record today. The writer seemed to want to know more about the one piece jump suits and unitards of the Big-Eyed Beans era but that's fine with me. Those were were the days of the underground rock and roll dance party. And they continue. Click on "LISTEN" on the above menu to hear more tracks from the new days and the old... and contact me here if you want to order a CD. Tracks for download soon Mathew!

Added Notes and Dedications for the CD

Thanks also to the staff and patrons of The Goldrush Inn and the Roudhouse Tavern who shielded me from both the stinging dark of winter winds and the manic positive energy of the summer while my shoulder healed from surgery and while I tried to record this record. In that light, special thanks also to my surgeon, Dr. Hawkins who fixed my shoulder and showed me a photo from an archive which featured a relative of his who lived in the Klondike not so long after the Goldrush. By the by, Blake Cameron determined that your great uncle is standing in front of the Dawson City News building in that photo from the olden days.

Yukon Love Ghosts

Well, it’s here folks. Five years and thousands of dollars from wide-ranging sources later the latest audio epistle from the almost famous and always mercurial Yukoner, Ben Mahony is available for purchase and pouring over. It also makes an excellent gift and/or coaster.
